Another Dublin neighbourhood ranked among coolest in the world

Global travel experts Time Out revealed their latest ranking of coolest neighbourhoods in the world – and yet another Dublin district has made the list.

Another Dublin neighbourhood has ranked among the coolest in the world.

Inchicore, located in the south-central area of Ireland’s capital, is the fifth Dublin neighbourhood to rank among the coolest in the world.

Offering a unique mix of old-school charm and hip, modern energy, this vibrant district may not be the first place that comes to mind when planning a trip to the city.

However, having been named on Time Out’s 2024 ranking of 38 coolest neighbourhoods in the world, Inchicore is one spot you won’t want to miss.

To compile their list of 38 coolest neighbourhoods in the world for 2024, Time Out revealed they went straight to the experts.

They asked their ‘global team of on-the-ground writers and editors’ to reveal what they believe to be the coolest neighbourhoods in their cities right now – and why.

They then narrowed down the selection and ranked each location on various criteria, including food, drink, arts, culture, street life, community, and one-of-a-kind local flavour.

Dublin-based writer Rory Cashin was one of the experts to cast his vote for Inchicore. He said the neighbourhood is “a part of the city that’s come to perfectly represent Dublin’s unique old-school charm mixed with a very modern energy”.

Inchicore is not the first Dublin neighbourhood to rank among the coolest in the world. In fact, it joins a long list of predecessors, including Stoneybatter, Phibsboro, Dublin 8, and Smithfield.

According to Cashin, “The unexpected trendiness that’s descended on the likes of Smithfield and Stoneybatter has found its way to Inchicore.”

So, if you’re looking to discover the magic of Dublin’s coolest neighbourhood, Cashin offers the perfect day. He recommends stopping off at Riggers for a coffee before heading over to the fantastic Richmond Barracks.

Once you start getting hungry, head for a tasty lunch at Tacos Lupillo. After that, make your way to Richmond Park to soak up Dublin’s sporting culture. To end your day on a high, Cashin recommends dinner at Kari and a pint in The Black Lion.
