2. Game of Thrones Afternoon Tea – wine and dine in Westeros
With much of the popular HBO series filmed in Northern Ireland, it is no surprise that an (unofficial) afternoon tea experience inspired by the show has since popped up.
Undoubtedly one of the best TV-themed afternoon teas in Northern Ireland, the Game of Thrones afternoon tea experience can be enjoyed at two sites: Ballygally Castle Hotel and Slieve Donard Resort and Spa.
The wide selection of treats available at Ballygally Castle Hotel includes themed finger foods.
Guests can enjoy the Little Finger Mini Chicken Caesar Wrap and Lannister Egg Rolls. They also offer freshly baked scones dubbed Jon Snow Cakes and an array of desserts.
Our favourites are the Dothraki Trifle and Kingslayer Cupcakes. A selection of teas and coffees are also widely available.
Alternatively, Slieve Donard Resort and Spa offers a slightly different menu with similarly themed items like Clegane’s Chicken and Robert Baratheon’s Beef sandwiches.
Our favourites, however, are the pastries like Red Priest Macaroons, and Sansa’s Lemon Cake. Tasty morsels are also on offer, such as Theon’s Joy and Arya’s Pie. Select tea and coffee are also available here.
The tea is available from 2 pm to 5 pm Monday to Saturday and 3 pm to 5 pm on Sunday at both locations. It must be booked 24 hours in advance.
