A Road Trip is one of the best things you can do around Ireland as it has some of the most beautiful roads on this planet. From the rugged coast around the Wild Atlantic Way to the Causeway Coastal Route of County Antrim, there are so many routes you can take around this island. However, there are a number of key items you need to bring to ensure your trip is the best it possibly can be. Here are the top ten things you need to bring.
1. A Car
It may seem obvious, but every road trip needs a car. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a road trip! If you live in Ireland, you might already have a car so happy days! If not then you might want to rent a car in Ireland you might want to try Europcar or Enterprise.
2. A travel Guide
A travel guide is essential to planning your trip around Ireland. We recommend Lonely Planet’s Travel Guide which is a very informative book and it includes everything you need. It is full of hints and tips about things to do (and not to do). Everything you need for planning a trip to Ireland. The book is well laid out by individual counties.

3. A Good Camera
A good camera is essential for any Road Trip. If you want to make your memories last forever and to take the best photos, we recommend either a Nikon or Canon Camera. Both manufacturers are renowned worldwide for the quality of their cameras, so you can’t go wrong. If you are a beginner and want to take high-quality images of all kinds of scenes, then we recommend either the Canon EOS 1300D or the Nikon D3300.
We actually used this Nikon camera for a Road Trip we did last year and here is one of the photos we took with it:
4. Action Camcorder
The only thing that could top amazing photos of your trip is a short video of your travels. To make this video, we recommend the GoPro HERO5 Action Camera. However, if you would like to spend a lot less money and get a similar level of quality, we recommend the AKASO EK7000. Both are excellent cameras and the footage they produce look amazing on a HD tv!
You could end up with a video like this:
5. Sat Nav
You can get lost very easily in Ireland so Sat Nav is essential. These little devices will save you a lot of time and petrol. I how I’d get around the whole of Ireland without one of these devices! For your trip, we’d recommend the Garmin Camper 660LMT-D.
However, if your mobile already has Sat Nav, then you’ll probably need a mobile phone holder.
